Julia Garlotte has been a professional actor and sound designer in Southeast Michigan for 15 years, working for companies such as Williamston Theatre ( 2 Thespie Awards for Best Sound Design), Shakespeare in Detroit ( Wilde Award for Best Performance- The Bard), Tipping Point Theatre, The Ringwald Theatre, The Purple Rose Theatre, Detroit Public Theatre, and more. At the Penny Seats, she has performed in  and designed sound for The Mummy Queen, The Winter Wolf, Ripper, Fortinbras, Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde, and The Renaissance Man. When not in the theatre, she's narrating audiobooks, watching sci-fi, cuddling with her cats, or exploring the outdoors with her husband.

Lauren has been acting and singing in public for over 30 years. She has appeared in numerous professional, amateur, and community theater productions in Virginia, Maryland, Wisconsin, and Michigan, with an emphasis on musical theater. A co-founder of The Penny Seats in 2010, Lauren serves as the group's Executive Director, working year-round to create local partnerships and performance opportunities for the group. By day, she is General Counsel at Eastern Michigan University. She lives in Ann Arbor with her husband, two kids, and a cuddly dog.

Amanda Buchalter is an award-winning actress, a director, an emerging fight director and intimacy coordinator, and meticulous stage manager. She has worked with the Penny Seats in many of these roles since 2017, having started as their Arts Executive Intern, and is grateful to call the Penny Seats a creative home. Currently, she serves as our Administrative Associate, assisting with the day-to-day functions of the theatre, serving as a link between production teams and our executive staff, and coordinating various company communications.
